forcing bulbs:
it brings a little bit of spring to your soul...and helps you get through the dreary rest of winter.
I got the two little ones in my stocking and the large hyacinth from my aunt. they are even lovely and organic at this stage. stay tuned for additional photos once they bloom.
honestly, the roots are kind of creepy. they grow like SUPER fast and are kind of gross looking.
happy SIDENOTE
check out that winter sun today!

I can't wait to see these as they bloom. I'm amazed at the big ol' hyacinth - only water and it's going to bloom. Yes, the roots are kind of creepy/cool. I had some paperwhites that I forced once - years and years ago.
I totally want to do this! I have never done it before. Do I just get a glass vase and water? Do I do anything else? I can't wait to see the end result.
dishes: unfortunately, the two little guys are not looking very good. it might not be a good outcome for them. there is still hope for the big one! I am NOT an expert on this stuff...AT ALL!
suz: the large bulb came in a kit with the "bulb vase" so I'm not sure if you could just do it in a glass/vase. I think there has to be just the right amount of bulb to water ratio...something like that. seems much more organic and complicated when you think about it! I think my aunt got it at wal-mart so maybe they wouldn't be too expensive to give it a shot. I'll be sure to post photos of the blooming bulbs
(hopefully they bloom!)
