positano
this town on the southern coast of Italy has been featured in a few movies (“only you” and “under the tuscan sun”) but was more breathtaking and surreal than I ever could have imagined. we dined at a beachside café named “chez black” where their signature dish was pasta made with squid ink…we did not try it. we did however, try our first limoncello and italian cappuchino…we didn’t love them but are happy we tried them! we sat on the pebbly beach, picking up sea glass and watching naked italian babies play in the water, nothing could be better.
phoenix/palm springs/pasco
these are cities where I grew up and/or passed through during my life. I graduated from pasco high school…GO bulldogs…but thought “small town” life was too slow for me. I spent some time in seattle but decided to be adventurous and moved to phoenix in 2004. even though the city wasn’t as urban as seattle, it’s a great place and I miss it more than I thought I would. there was great shopping and good restaurants and FANTASTIC weather. from AZ I moved on to CA for almost a year. palm springs is wonderful to visit but not to live…at least in my opinion. it’s a little sleepy and the restaurants and shopping leave something to be desired. now that I’m back in seattle, thoughts of my “p-towns” hold great memories…and make me smile!
pie and potatoes
our thanksgiving was wonderful today! it was just the four of us and my aunt jean and cousins john and larry, nice and quiet. the food was delicious…the potatoes and pie (pumpkin and grape) were my favorites like always. here are some photos for the archives…
happy thanksgiving to all...
